Maintenance dredging of Belfast Harbour.

The work consists of the construction of replacement steps, approx. 100m south of the Glen River on the Central Promenade, Newcastle, Co. Down. The repairs are required since erosion has undermined the steps.

Construction of headwall to accommodate 525mm diameter outfall pipe required at Belfast Harbour, adjacent to West Bank Road. The works are to serve the proposed formal storm drainage system, as part of the design of a new vehicle parking area.

Demolition and removal of an existing suspended timber quay and the reconstruction of the quay with a reinforced concrete wall supported on piles

Dredging within the impounded River Lagan to dredge approximately 55,235 m3 (77,329 tonnes) of material. This includes removal of all material built up above -1.2m AOD with 2m wide side slopes (1:5 slope).

Construction of a new outfall pipe to discharge the effluent from a new treatment plant. The effluent will be discharged at sea.

Reinforcement of approx. 200m of coastal path which is failing due to excessive loading from the landward embankment which is subject to landslips. Approx.

Works are required to repair the damaged concrete areas to improve safety and to prolong the life of the slipway structure.
