The Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2018
Date published:
The Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2018 come into operation on 3 January 2019. This follows a joint DAERA / Food Standards Agency Northern Ireland public consultation.
Since the Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2010 came into operation, the EU made a number of amendments to the EU Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies Regulations and reduced controls to reflect the reduced risk posed by Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathies. These changes have been applied across the EU and were implemented administratively in the United Kingdom pending the update to domestic legislation. A number of minor amendments have also been included to clarify and reflect policy, operational and technical changes within Northern Ireland since the regulations came into operation in 2010.
