Bardahessiagh ASSI includes a highly fossiliferous sequence of Ordovician sediments. The type locality for over 50 species while many additional new species collected in 1992 still await definitive descriptions.
It has one of the most diverse fossil faunas of Caradoc age known and is of great palaeogeographical importance.
