New Integrated Pest Management guidance page launched
Date published:
A new Integrated Pest Management (IPM) guidance page has recently been launched on the DAERA Website to help farmers, growers and land managers to consider a variety of alternative pest management approaches.
IPM is a whole farm management approach which considers all available plant protection methods to prevent, monitor and control pests, weeds and diseases. IPM is not a fixed set of practices but a flexible approach to help you make the best decisions for your farm.
It blends farming skills, conventional wisdom and approaches with the latest technology and scientific research and development.
It aims to:
- support resilient and sustainable agricultural production
- support healthy crops using a range of plant protection methods
- enhance wildlife and biodiversity
The new guidance page provides clear and practical information to help you increase your use of IPM approaches. It includes:
- the aims and principles of IPM
- examples of what it means in practice
- tools which can support planning and decision making
- further external IPM guidance
Visit the IPM guidance page at: Integrated Pest Management.
