How to apply for DAERA online services
To access the range of DAERA online services, you need to login using your Government Gateway User ID and password. This procedure for logging in has replaced the previous way of using a Rural Portal ID and password.
Using DAERA online services
There are three steps to using DAERA online services.
Register with the Government Gateway
You must be registered with the Government Gateway to use DAERA Online Services. If you are not already registered, you can register now by providing a name, a password and an e-mail address. When you do this, you will then be given a 12 digit number – this is your Government Gateway User ID. You will be able to use these login details to access many services across a range of government departments; for example, submitting income tax returns and completing your VAT online.
Enrol for DAERA online services
To enrol for DAERA online services, you need to provide two pieces of information (referred to as your 'Known facts'):
- Your Customer ID – a six digit number (sometimes referred to as your 'client reference number' beginning with 1 or 2)
- DAERA Access Key - a randomly generated alphanumeric key (mixture of letters and numbers)
You should already know your Customer ID but your DAERA Access Key will be sent to you, on your request, in a secure letter by the DAERA Online Services Team. You can request this letter online.
Select the service you want to use, (for example, APHIS online, Benchmarking etc.)
Once enrolled you can select the service you want to use such as APHIS online or Benchmarking.
Once you have access to DAERA online services, you will only need your Government Gateway User ID and password to login. However you should retain your 'Known facts', as you will need them should you forget your Government Gateway User ID and password.
