Greenmount Extended Diploma in Horticulture students have built a great reputation for landscape gardening and they’re keen attract a new generation to an exciting and rewarding career in Horticulture. This year a team of five students won Gold for their Worldskills Success Show Garden at Garden Show Ireland and now they have just completed a community project as part of their Landscape Construction unit.
The landscape construction project, completed in just three days, involved building a ‘Wildlife and Dipping Pond’ for use by the pupils and staff of Carnmoney Primary School, Newtownabbey. It is hoped the pond will enhance the learning experience of the school’s Eco-club and provide a valuable outdoor teaching resource for the staff.
Horticulture students at Greenmount campus not alone learn how to grow and care for plants but also how to design and build beautiful gardens and landscapes.
