Consultation description
It is aimed at industry stakeholders who have an interest in BVD eradication as well as farmers who may be impacted by the introduction of the restrictions. The consultation paper sets out background information on the nature of the BVD virus, its impact on the farming industry as well as the progress which has been made, to date, to eradicate the disease in Northern Ireland. It also sets out the position on herd restrictions in other jurisdictions of the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. The Department’s proposals are set out in detail in Chapter 4 of the consultation paper and it is in relation to these that we are seeking your views.
